Hindi Ki Neev is incorporated as a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching the Hindi language to children between the ages 5 to 14 in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is managed by a group of Silicon Valley professionals and teachers specializing in teaching Hindi as a second language to children.
The mission of Hindi Ki Neev is to teach Hindi as a second language to children and connect them with India's rich social, cultural, and traditional links. For this mission, Hindi Ki Neev is using a unique curriculum called "Hindi Ki Duniya" developed by Rishi Valley School and Education Center, Krishnamurti Foundation India. This curriculum is specialized for non-native speakers.
President
Minakshi Mathur holds an MA/B.Ed from Delhi University and has 40 years of teaching experience, teaching children of all different age groups.
After coming to US she specialized in teaching preschool and elementary school-age children. Her love for the Hindi language and exposure to the excellent system provided by the Hindi Ki Duniya series for teaching Hindi to children, motivated her to take up Hindi teaching when Acharya ji was looking to start Hindi classes at the Shiv-Durga temple. She enjoys working with young families and children and has continued the effort with Hindi Ki Neev to make these classes enjoyable and meaningful for all who attend.
Program Director
Anjini Saharia has been a teacher, website manager, curriculum developer, chemistry tutor, and above all, a mother. She was an elementary school teacher at Stratford School. Teaching Hindi has been a fun and beautiful journey for Anjini since its inception. Hindi is her mother tongue, and she loves reading literary works of famous Hindi writers and participates in poetry reading and recitation. Anjini has written many poems and song parodies for friends on their special occasions to toast and roast them. She enjoys how kids learn and grasp new concepts, and how, by the end of the year, they can read and write sentences in a new language. Anjini loves to travel, hike, paint, sew and stitch, sing, and dance. She looks forward to continuing her passion for a long time.
Marketing Director
Sanjay Mathur is a technology evangelist, specializing in IT Security and Enterprise Risk Management, and consulting mid-sized organizations as CISO Advisor. He is also a Hindi poet and a creative artist.
Sanjay is a founder member of several local initiatives for teaching the Hindi language, Indian customs, and traditions. He is a volunteer and a board member of Shiv Durga Temple, which housed Hindi Ki Neev for its founding years. A father of two children, who are raised and now live in the San Francisco Bay Area with their families.
Sanjay is born Indian and an American citizen by choice!
Treasurer
Seema Mathur earned a B.Sc (Chemistry) from Rajasthan University and a B.A in Accounting from Cal State East Bay University. She worked as a Tax Officer for the UK Inland Revenue Service in Oxford, England before moving to the US. After getting her accounting degree, she worked at the New United Motors Inc. in Fremont, specializing in risk management. She joined eBay in 2005 as a Risk Manager. She moved to PayPal after it split from eBay and is currently responsible for Insurance and Risk Management for global PayPal operations. She also serves as treasurer for the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Silicon Valley chapter.
